The Windom Police Department consists of 10 sworn officers consisting of a Chief of Police, Night Sergeant, Day Sergeant/Investigator, 6 Patrol Officers, School Resource Officer and a Records Clerk. Vacancies are filled by recommendation of hire by the Chief of Police to the City Council and require their confirmation. The Police Department is located in the Cottonwood County Law Enforcement Center.  Dispatching for the department is provided by the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office.

Windom is located in Cottonwood County, in Southwest Minnesota, and is at the intersection of  Highway 60, Highway 71, and Highway 62.  The 2020 Census shows Windom has a diverse and growing population of 4,798.
